I was really excited to receive pictures from Mrs. Mary Halverson in my inbox with lovely finished photos of her Star Gazer Quilt. Mary had contacted me last year about using Star Gazer to make her daughter and future son-in-law an incredibly special wedding present. I was beyond thrilled when she sent me an update on the project and pictures of one of the most lovely quilts ever.
The colors are full of joy and what was even more touching perhaps, was the unique part that this Star Gazer Quilt played in a great family tradition. As each of the fifteen grandkids tie the knot, it is part of Mary’s family tradition to create a king or queen size quilt for the happy couple. It gets better too, the work of sewing/quilting/binding this quilt is a shared responsibility amongst thirty five (yes you read 35!) aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings. The finished blocks are then joined together usually by hand, and then the names of the couple are embroidered on the blocks. Then to make it even more special, gracious family members come by to help quilt by hand. How special is that?! I am thrilled that Mary chose a Star Gazer pattern worthy of this lovely tradition.
In honor of Mary’s Lovely tradition, we are giving away a Star Gazer Pattern! Use the rafflecopter widget below to enter.
Giveaway ends Friday 6/27 @ 10am PST.
